Week 2 ...Podcasts

Children today have learning easier than when I was growing up.  Students no longer have to make trips to the library to do research for reports or lug out the endless volumes of encyclopedias.  Knowledge is at their fingertips, whether it is with a cell phone, tablet, lap top or desk top computer, all they have to to do is type in the subject and bam! they have an answer. In some cases all they have to do is ask their mobile device a question and in minutes they will have an answer.

Older classrooms are being redesigned to accommodate a technologically based society and new classrooms are being built with technology in mind. So why not incorporate technology into our classrooms? One way to do this is with a podcast. What is a podcast? It is a audio or video recording file you download through the internet, With a podcast you can reach more than your classroom; a student home bound with a serious illness or away for sports or whatever the reason students can still keep up with lessons and not fall behind. This could also be a way for students to interact with their classmates or pose a question that others may an answer to.

I think this video will explain what a podcast is better than I can. Happy viewing!!

Ms. Sanders Educ 270 Spr. 15 ~ Kahoot!

  Hello!

As a parent and student in an Education program, I am always looking for new and interesting ways to help my kids retain the information they have learned. Or information we hope they will learn. Last fall, I had the opportunity to observe a classroom where the teacher utilized a fantastic website, Kahoot!

Kahoot! is a interactive website that is great for review, discussion or conduct a survey in a game based setting. You can either make up your own questions or utilize a public game. It is easy to do but time consuming.
